American readers of Kozmik News are fortunate in one crucial area when
it comes to getting a reading for the birth chart.
The time of birth is recorded on the US birth certificate and this is a
vital piece of information when it comes to interpreting a chart with a
horoscope reading.
In other parts of the world, this information is not recorded, and as I
have been reminded in the past month, one of the best ways of
establishing the time of birth is to track back from the time of death
and look at the key indicators for the transit chart which shows the
impact of the present position of the planets on the birth chart.
With the passing of my brother Shaun in the past month from lung cancer
(a dreadful disease I might remind any smoker reading) it was
enlightening to recreate his corrected birth chart.
It indicated that he was probably born an hour earlier than I had
calculated because with this revised time of birth, transiting Saturn
was exactly on the cusp of the house of death, while transiting Sun and
Uranus were conjunct and linked in to his natal Moon, further indicators
were Saturn linking to the cusp of his fourth house (the point of the
life spark) while transiting Mars and the Vertex, representing what we
term fate, where on the cusp of his 7th house,
his dealings with the world at large.
This new revised time of birth helped to explain what had previously
been some difficult to understand behavior. The new chart put his sun -
his individuality and essence - in the fourth house of home, land,
heritage and the underlying bedrock of the person.
He worked arranging holiday lets for property owners, which very much
fitted in with this preoccupation with land and real estate. But it also
fitted with his previous inexplicable involvement in being a 40%
shareholder in a golf course and leisure center even though he hardly
ever played golf. This was to prove a constant drain on his otherwise
healthy finances, and his brushing aside of every objection that this
was a risky investment.
Even more curiously and appositely at the wake after the funeral I met
up again with a former partner of his who had been born at the large
house next to where we grew up.
As kids, we used to sit on the fence of the house watching them playing
tennis, one day a woman player said we could come in and play in the
private grounds on the tennis court. Every day after that for one
glorious summer we trooped in to play tennis through the grand drive
entrance. Towards the end of summer, we were one day stopped by another
woman who lived at the big house who wanted to know why we were marching
in to the grounds, the summer idyll was over.
Obviously this experience stayed with my brother Shaun even more than
me, his taste for country club living had begun and was to stay with him
all life long!
It is all there in the chart as the new time of birth confirmed, for him
getting established in his own large house was the supreme goal.
Curiously, I was also contacted by another client this past month who
was interested in calculating a likely time of death, this is not
something that astrologers encourage, for one thing the life course is
always a two way process, the universal energies impact on our
development, but we also can affect the exterior world in the
evolutionary process, at least to some extent.
But if you wish to know what the main focus of your life will be simply
look for where the mighty Sun is located in your birth chart, its house
position will reveal your essential underlying purposes in life, your
destiny if you prefer to call it that. If you don't know how to read the
house position simply ask me.
So what lies ahead for the month of April? With Venus moving into earthy
sensual Taurus for much of the month, you can look forward to glorious
displays of the natural world in all its profusion of colors as spring
arrives in the northern hemisphere.
Venus is intimately linked to color, profusion, growth, the natural
world and fertility in all its variety, while Taurus has a special
connection with sheer earthiness and physicality of our world. It really
is there as Venus in Taurus will remind you with its wondrous displays.
On the 18th of April, Mercury turns retrograde until May 11th, this is a
period when you will need to put on hold any important decisions to do
with business and contracts, purchases and negotiations over money
matters, one reason being that information will turn up after the
retrograde period which will change the underlying situation and cause
further changes whatever has previously been decided.
Another significant change this month is the return of Saturn, the
taskmaster, to Virgo until it finally leaves this constellation in mid
July, this final visit to Virgo marks what the end of the recession that
has been putting the economy on a dramatic slowdown for some 2 1/2 years
now. Some final reckoning and clearing up of the debris looks in
prospect before we can move on.
Also this month mighty Pluto, the agent of drastic change, turns
retrograde until mid September, a further indicator that it will take
some time yet for the economy to get back up to speed, but it will,
eventually, this year be back on stream.
