Welcome aboard the good ship 2010, destination unknown but sure to be
exciting, it is too late to disembark, the ship has cast off from the
shore and there is no going back.
So what can you anticipate about the year ahead?
It is actually too early to make some of your more realistic and
achievable New Year resolutions. Wait until after January 15 when
Mercury turns direct after being retrograde or difficult for the first
half of the month. Only after then will you be able to survey the
lie of the land and make decisions that do not have to be quickly
revised as previously unknown variables creep into the picture.
This return to normal movement by Mercury also coincides with an
eclipsed new moon in Capricorn, the sudden jolt forward you feel at this
point in the month will shake off any cobwebs and hibernatory tendencies
as you are propelled forward into a brand new decade which quickly feels
and looks very different from the one that preceded it.
This period of the year for me is a busy one preparing clients' year
ahead forecasts, and it is always instructive to see how the general
trends for the year apply to their particular situations.
My impression from these charts is that the economy in the US definitely
does improve and a new mood of restoration and recovery takes hold after
the all prevailing pessimism that accompanied the fall out from the
credit crunch shocks which actually occured way back in 2007. If you
wondered whether normality would ever return, then this year could
provide your answer.
We are now entering a period where there has to be a rebalancing of the
economy, less emphasis on no holds barred deregulation, more awareness
of the long term implications of decisions made in haste but repented at
leisure.
There is now a thoughtful intellectual president in charge who is
attempting to set a new course for the great ship of state.
Coming up over the horizon are new factors not seen before and it is the
impact of the new sciences and technologies that will increasingly take
center stage, beginning tomorrow with the launch of the new Apple
'islate' computer, rumored to be every bit as revolutionary as the
original Apple computer way back in 1984 which I, along with everyone
else, was completely bowled over by as well as mystified about what its
true potential was.
We found out pretty quickly that this was far more than an advanced word
processor but it has taken speeds of processing some 100 times as fast
to put us into almost a different dimension as access to information
becomes ever easier, and with it the potential for a second great age of
enlightenment.
Knowledge is indeed power, as long as you believe in the dissemination
of information and consequently informed decision making. Then, you will
be right on board for the way this new decade shapes up as the
technological information revolution gets up to speed and creates
unparalleled opportunities for growth and increase in wealth for those
prepared to get familiar with the new technologies.
So hold onto your hats and be prepared to adopt the new ways of doing
business that will shortly be made possible.
