Hi Kozmik News subscriber

Hooray, the Mercury retrograde period is past, as of May 30, but in my own case I celebrated a little too early the passing of the period of hold ups and slowdowns as my car came to a spluttering halt a mile from the airport last Friday, a day before the end of the retrograde period. Ironically, I was on my way to an Eric Clapton concert, the perfect way of greeting the highly inspirational conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune that occurred on May 27, and although I missed the first half hour of the show it was still sensational. Strangely, Eric Clapton looks ever more Canadian preppy to me, dressed in his jeans and Hawaiian shirt, strolling around the stage free from some of the demons that have pursued his life. But then you can only ever become who you actually are, and in Eric's case this is rather complicated as his autobiography recently revealed. He found out his father, who he never met, was actually a Canadian airman stationed in England during the Second World War. Perhaps his search for the roots of the blues was always really a search for his father's heritage, and quite a few French Canadians make their way down to Louisiana when it was a French possession early on in the continent's history. You will see in his chart at http://www.kozmikhoroscopes.com/clapton.htm that Saturn, representing the father is in the 9th house of foreign countries and exotic philosophies, while his Neptune and Chiron straddle the mysterious 12th house where both impenetrable riddles and hidden sources of talent and inspiration are found. But of course you have to see the show live to get the full bodied flavor of the bewitching brew that Eric is able to serve up, finishing with Crossroads, one of his early hits, which in turn was based on a Robert Johnson song, another soul who felt he was in thrall to a mysterious and rather unforgiving divine muse, like Clapton himself. Eric's biography does not quite tell the full story about his early days, when I actually knew him. The band, the Yardbirds, used to be a feature at the parties we held around south west London, we'd all gather at the local coffee bars to find out where the action was for the night. The band were already regarded as some pretty volatile material but one day I do remember this entirely sincere young guy telling me in the Kenco Coffee House next door to an ancient Saxon church where seven saxon kings were crowned, that he was gong to be the best guitarist in the world. Strange thing is that it did not sound an outlandish notion at all, merely a statement of intent. Some would say he made it, when he was blasting off at the concert there would have been a good 5.000 souls present who would have agreed with him. That is the power of the imagination at work, and it is all in the chart, as he himself seemed to know from an early age. Great stuff, Eric.
