Conjunctions are usually the most powerful of aspects, the majority are helpful but it depends on the planets involved.

Stressful aspects are in order of power, opposition (180), (strongest), square (90), semi square (45), sesquiquadrate (135), inconjunct (150). Each aspect has its own particular quality attached to it.

For example, an opposition in a chart between two planets would generally show a clash of forces that would need to be resolved through some kind of synthesis of their influences over the lifetime of a person.

Let us say Mercury is in the first house, which rules self expression, and is linked to Venus in the seventh house, which rules partnership matters, through an opposition aspect.

This would show much communication with a romantic partner, the planets are in a difficult aspect and this effect will be described in the aspects section of the reading, there is likely to be some strain in communications with close partners both personally and professionally.
